1st TO EARN PUBLIC HEALTH RODENT CERTIFICATION NATIONWIDE

NJ Wildlife and Pest Control is the First Company Nationwide to Earn the Public Health Rodent Certification

On September 30, 2020, NJ Wildlife and Pest Control in Randolph, NJ, was the 1st company nationwide to earn the QualityPro Public Health in Rodent Certification. Two of the Pest Control team members also earned the Public Health of Entomology (PHE) Certificate.

Pests that carry and transmit diseases continue to threaten public health. According to a report released in 2018 by the Centers for Disease and Control, it stated that diseases from fleas, ticks, and mosquitos have tripled over the last thirteen years globally. It is a time that is now critical for the communities to have a pest management industry that is a robust first line of defense with the proper pest removal and control techniques.

Russel Sieb, founder and owner, and son Zackary Sieb of NJ Wildlife and Pest Control recently earned and was awarded the Public Health Entomology (PHE) certificate offered by the Entomological Society of America.

To achieve this recognition, applicants must pass an examination that includes basic entomology, insect identification, the pest population’s density and distribution, and pest’s life cycles. Control measures such as the most reasonable and effective course of action, implementing the appropriate management tactic and finally assessing the control operation with the complete evaluation are also included.

The recipient must demonstrate a broad range of knowledge regarding pests and the diseases they can transmit, ecological principles, and environmental impacts of pest control. Integrated pest management, technology, and health and safety issues are also vital to know.

Selected recipients must also have expertise in pesticide resources, industry associations and organizations, as well as all of the laws and regulations.
